Arnold Harry Paterson, late of Paddockwood, SK passed away on Monday, October 31st, 2022, just in time to celebrate his 50th wedding anniversary in the land above with the love of his life, Audrey Elaine Paterson.
Arnold was born to Harry & Minnie Paterson on March 26th, 1951, in Prince Albert. He lived in the Beaton district and later moved to Christopher Lake, SK. Arnold went to elementary school at Christopher Lake and then attended high school in Prince Albert, SK. When Arnold left school, he worked in Regina and Calgary briefly before moving to Paddockwood to work as a pulp cutter. Throughout his career in the forestry industry, Arnold worked for Woodland Enterprises, Terry Thoms’ Enterprise, and at the time of his passing for Joe Gill.
Arnold loved to be sarcastic. For those who first met Arnold, they were never sure if they should take what he said seriously, even though they shouldn’t have because he was full of a lot of BS. Arnold loved his wife Audrey and especially loved doing all kinds of jobs for her right when he sat down. He loved his grandchildren, and he loved giving them nicknames (Mono Nana, DawIIn, LanDon, Maaayooon, Zander, Little Girl, and Leeham). He loved sitting by the fire in the evening during the summer singing, “Stars at Night, Big and Bright, Deep in the Heart of Paddockwood”; fishing (especially his summer trips of late to Missinnippi); ice fishing (he would sit in his truck fishing from a hole right outside his door while everyone else enjoyed his deluxe fishing shack); watching hockey, baseball, football, and curling (especially if his grandkids were playing); laughing out loud to Impractical Jokers, Just for Laughs and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles ( He would mimic, “How do they know where we’re going? They’re drunk.”); watching Gold Rush and Ice Road Truckers; going for drives around Paddockwood and up to the cemetery to make sure everything looked good; watching people get water from the pump house and making sure they paid; singing along to Katy Perry’s Fireworks song; eating vanilla ice cream from a Sundae cup; McDonald’s burgers (right, Landon J); and drinking a warm beer in a hot porch.
Arnold’s main purpose in life was the happiness of his family and right now he would be telling us all, “Okay, get having fun. “
Arnold’s life will be continued to be celebrated by his four children Curtis (Maxine) Paterson, Rayanne Paterson, Joleen (Kent) Knox, and Chad (Cailie) Paterson; his grandchildren Liam Paterson, Marcus Paterson, Dawson Paterson, Landon Knox, Mason Knox, Alexander Paterson, and Laura Paterson; his siblings Audrey (Steven) Clare, Howard (Betty) Paterson, and Sandra (Jules) Tardiff; his sisters and brothers-in-law Bev (Wilf) Martin, Heather Gray, and Penny (Russell) Nelson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many close friends.
Arnold was predeceased by his wife Audrey Paterson (nee Frederick); his father Harry Paterson; his mother Minnie Paterson (nee Maltby); his brothers Harvey Paterson and Earl Paterson; his mother & father-in-law Ralph and Lois Frederick; & his brother-in-law Garth Frederick.
In respect of Arnold’s wishes, a private service has been planned. Condolences can be sent to the family on our website at www.mackenziechapel.ca. Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium. Brian & Bev Stobbs, Mark Gyoerick – Mel Curle. 306.763.8488.
