Prince Albert RCMP investigate vehicle thefts

An incident in the Christopher Lake area Sunday afternoon, involving a local resident being approached and threatened by a stranger with a gun, is one of three vehicle thefts being investigated by Prince Albert RCMP.

The incident happened around 4p.m. Police said three males armed with a firearm stole an occupied 2015 black Dodge Ram truck with Saskatchewan license plate 012 IZK.

The suspects were reported to be wearing bandanas across their faces and hoodies and drove away in the stolen black truck as well as a white truck. The driver of the vehicle was not physically harmed.

According to discussion on the local crime watch group’s Facebook page, the victim had been at the dumpsters in the Spruce Meadows subdivision.

Earlier in the afternoon, around 1:30p.m., there was a report of an attempted theft of vehicle on Little Red River First Nation.

Two males armed with a firearm and bear mace attempted to steal an occupied vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was able to drive away and was not physically harmed. The suspects were reported to be wearing bandanas across their faces.

Less than two hours later, there was a report of a theft of a vehicle on Sturgeon Lake First Nation that is believed to have occurred a few hours earlier. An older model white Ford F150 was stolen with Saskatchewan license plate 113 MUL. Police are not sure if the vehicle was occupied at the time.

The RCMP’s initial investigation has determined the reports may be related, and are asking the public to report any suspicious activity and/or to report if they see the two vehicles reported stolen.

Police are also asking the public to use caution if they live or are driving in the area, especially if approached by someone in vehicles matching the descriptions above. Ensure your personal vehicles are locked. Call 911 in an emergency.
