Raiders salvage single point in comeback effort
In a game that featured no shortage of scoring, the Prince Albert Raiders had just enough touch around the net to propel the game into extra time. Unfortunately, they didn’t have enough left in the tank for the one final sprint.
Sloan Stanick scored twice and Keaton Sorenson and Carson Latimer added single goals as the Raiders fell 5-4 to the Swift Current Broncos. Max Hildebrand was tagged with the loss after giving up five goals on 27 shots.
Stanick started the scoring on a power play in the first period, as he tried to fire the puck back to Landon Kosior at the left side of the net. Instead, he bounced it in off the stick of defenseman Josh Fluker.
The Broncos got their answer at even strength when Clarke Caswell outreached Hildebrand with a shot to the far post following the rebound of a shot by Josh Davies. Again, the Raiders power play provided the answer, however, as just four seconds into their next one, Even Herman went forward off the draw to feed Latimer, who lifted it home for his second in as many games.
