Carlton gets back in win column with huge victory over Tommy Douglas

Oct 7, 2022 | 10:31 PM

The Carlton Crusaders cruised to an easy victory on Friday night, stomping the Tommy Douglas Tigers 49-9 at Max Clunie Field.

The Crusaders scored all but one of their points in the first half and led after the first two quarters by a whopping 48-0. The Tigers on the other hand managed nine second half points versus the Crusaders.

Sullivan Smith-Windsor led his team to the win on Friday, throwing for 166 yards and four touchdowns on nine of fourteen attempts. Receiver Gage Prodaehl also had himself a night, chalking up 80 receiving yards along with two TDs on three receptions.

Tommy Douglas quarterback Dominic LaRose managed 80 passing yards and three interceptions on seven of twenty-seven attempts. He also rushed the ball once for two yards and a touchdown.

After tonights win, the Crusaders enter the final week of the regular season with a 3-1 record while the Tigers hold a 1-3 record.

COMPLETE BOX SCORE

The Crusaders came out firing on all cylinders wasting no time getting on the board with a touchdown just two minutes in. The party didn’t stop there as play by play and inch by inch, Carlton marched back and forth up and down the field for the entirety of the first half, resulting in a lopsided 48-0 lead at halftime.

However, the Tigers proved themselves as a second half team because they stormed the field with the type of aggression that lacked in the opening half. Due to the new, second half look of Tommy Douglas, they stunned Carlton by forcing punts and turnovers and eventually scoring nine points in the half.

Ultimately it was the Crusaders game to lose as Carlton took down the Tigers 49-9.

Carlton is back at home for their final game of the regular season on Friday night when they welcome the Bethlehem Stars to Max Clunie Field.
