Horizon School Division fires employee after discovering funds missing

A former employee with Horizon School Division is under investigation due to missing school funds.

The division, which oversees communities in the Humboldt, Wakaw, and St. Brieux areas, started an investigation after noticing around $4,600 hadn’t been deposited to their bank between June and August of 2022.

After confirming they were missing the funds, they reached out to RCMP.

The division has since fired the alleged employee.

At this time, the funds are still missing.

School administration has reportedly reviewed the division’s cash and fiscal management procedures since the investigation. It’s currently unclear if any changes have been made.
