Mintos add former pro Byers to staff ahead of exhibition opener
Exhibition season for the Prince Albert Mintos is soon to begin, and ahead of that season they’ve added a voice of experience to their coaching staff.
The Mintos announced ex-Minto, ex-Prince Albert Raider, and longtime professional hockey player Dane Byers would be joining their staff as an assistant coach. Byers played more than 700 games of professional hockey in his career, including 14 in the NHL.
“When Tim (Leonard, Mintos head coach) mentioned he was going to come aboard, I was ecstatic,” said Mintos GM Kalen Wright. “The resume on him and being an ex-Minto, a pro career, it just worked out perfect for helping our boys with skill development and teaching them a few things here and there.”
As for Byers, he’s thrilled for a chance to stay in touch with the game and pass on his knowledge to a younger generation.
