John Hrynenko
1937 ~ 2022

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of John Hrynenko on Thursday, August 25, 2022.

Dad was born on the farm in Honeymoon, SK, on December 18, 1937. Dad was a truck driver, bus driver, a guard at the police station and farmed his whole life. Dad met Mom in April 1964 and they married July 18, 1964. In 1970 they welcomed their son Morris and in 1976, they welcomed their son, Michael. In 2009 Dad and Mom became Gido and Baba with the birth of Harlen. Dad cherished his time with Harlen.

Dad enjoyed going for Sunday drives. He enjoyed seeing the crops in different stages and stopping for ice cream. Dad enjoyed fishing all year round. Dad liked when family and friends stopped by for a visit especially if a card game would happen. I will always treasure the moments we shared. Whether we were on the boat catching fish, at the farm watching the crop ripen in the field, in the garden hilling the potatoes or by the kitchen table talking. All these were great because we did them together. Every time I think of you, Dad my heart fills with pride. Thank you for your guidance through the years. Forever in our memories.

John is survived by his loving family; his son, Michael Hrynenko; his grandson, Harlen Hrynenko; his sister, Olga Mihilewicz; his in-laws, Walter (Bernice) Fedorychka, Hilda Evenson, Sylvia (Ian) Oliver; and his daughter-in-law, Carrie Hrynenko. Numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Elaine Hrynenko; his son, Morris Hrynenko; his parents, Mike & Mary Hrynenko; his siblings, Andrew (Pauline) Hrynenko, Mary (Bill) Parasuik, Anne (George) Nemish; his parents-in-law, Andrew & Anna Fedorychka; and his brothers-in-law, Orest Fedorychka and Edward Mihilewicz.

A special thank you goes out to all those from the Victoria Hospital, and the Community Clinic for all their care and support over the last few years, helping with Dad. The Visitation for John will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at River Park Funeral Home, in Prince Albert, SK. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at River Park Funeral Home, in Prince Albert, SK, with The Very Rev. Fr. Patrick Powalinsky officiating.
