It was a booming summer for Tourism Prince Albert as travellers from across the world came to the city over the past few months.

That’s according to Duane Krip, with marketing and business development for Tourism Prince Albert. He said their guest book featured people from several continents.

“Anywhere from South America, Brazil, Mexico all the way over to Europe, Australia, Great Britain, Germany. It’s been really, really incredible to see how many people are travelling over here to experience Canada and choosing to visit our area of all the places in the world they can go.”

Following many seasons of restrictions and fewer travellers coming to the area, Krip said it was great to see more tourists pass through the city, many in amazement of what they saw when it came to the landscape.

“They love the picturesque nature of what we have here, the views, the vistas and especially the sky and the sunlight. The comments that they’re making on how beautiful this area is. They can’t believe the amount of sunshine.”

As for how many people came through the tourism office this summer, Krip believes it was about 2,000 people, which is likely a small part of the number of tourists that actually passed by.

He said every traveller and story is different and many passed by the city as part of a cross-Canada adventure.

“They would jump on a plane, they arrive in Winnipeg or Saskatoon, they rent a car and they’re just on tour.”

Not long before he spoke to paNOW, Krip said he spoke to one traveller who came here from the state of Maine, taking a holiday to explore Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
