UPDATE: Major crime investigation near Warman, rural theft in Glaslyn

Aug 30, 2022 | 3:22 PM

UPDATE: Around 3:00 p.m. this afternoon, Ashtin Ritzand turned himself into the police. He was arrested without incident at the Saskatoon RCMP Detachment. He will appear in court on Sept. 1.

The RCMP’s Major Crime Unit (MCU) has arrested three individuals and is searching for a fourth, following an incident Monday that left a man dead and a woman injured.

Warman RCMP received an initial report early Monday morning that two people were injured near the intersection of Penner Road and Rural Road 3050. Officers and EMS responded, pronouncing the 40-year-old from the RM of Corman Park deceased at the scene. His family was notified and his name is not being released at this time, while the woman was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

MCU began investigating with the assistance of Warman RCMP, Corman Park Police Service, and Saskatoon Police Service, determining the two were travelling in a vehicle with three men. That vehicle, a white Honda Civic, was stopped near the same intersection and an altercation occurred, with the three men fleeing in the vehicle.

Late that afternoon, officers attempted a traffic stop in the Evergreen neighbourhood of Saskatoon and the vehicle did not stop. A continued investigation determined the occupants fled on foot and soon after, police arrested a female and two males on Marlatte Street.

The trio remains in custody, the Honda Civic has been recovered and there will be an increased police presence on Marlatte St. as Saskatchewan RCMP’s MCU continues to investigate. Investigators are working to locate one outstanding male, 28-year-old Ashtin Ritzand. He’s described as approximately 6’0 with a slender build, red hair and green eyes.

Ritzand should be considered dangerous and should not be approached. Anyone who sees him or has information on his whereabouts can instead contact the local police service and 911 in an emergency. Information can also be submitted anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers.
