Charges laid for assaulting police officer

Prince Albert Police have laid charges against a man who is accused of assaulting an officer.

Hector Robert Charles, 37, is also charged with uttering threats, mischief and two counts of assault with a weapon.

The charges follow an incident outside a business in the 3300 Block of Second Avenue West on Thursday.

A man had been reported starting a fire in a garbage bin and threatening the staff of the business. When officers arrived, they found a man matching the suspect’s description.

When they tried to apprehend him, he tried to run and became aggressive to the officers, who still managed to arrest him with the help of two passersby.
