Sharks swimmer qualifies for nationals, off to international tournament

Aug 5, 2022 | 12:00 PM

A member of the Prince Albert Sharks has made history after recently competing at the national championships in Montreal.

Ali D. qualified for the national tournament which was held over the August long weekend in Montreal.

She will now get ready to head to Vancouver in December for the International Para swimming meet.

Ali started the training season from the bottom to the top and went to the podium last winter at the ManSask provincial championships. She is also a Western Canadian medalist, Summer ManSask medalist, and national finalist for the first time ever.

“Ali is the youngest among all para swimmers who qualified to those big swimming championships,” the Sharks said in a release. “Her mom was competing at the same pool in Montreal years ago. She was a national swimmer. History repeats itself!”

This is the first time a Sharks swimmer has qualified for nationals.
