Leland Florentine Schmitz
December 21, 1945 ~ July 26, 2022
It is with great sadness that the family of Leland Schmitz, beloved husband to Bonita, announce his passing on July 26, 2022 at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK.
Lee was born on December 21, 1945. The oldest of six children, Lee grew up in Watson, SK.
He married Bonita “Boni” Roenspies on July 3, 1971. They lived and raised their three children in Watson, SK, where Lee taught school for 30 years. Once retired, Lee and Boni moved to Whelan Bay, where they spent the next 22 years together until Lee’s passing on July 26, 2022.
Lee loved to fish and hunt. He was always in pursuit of the elusive “big one” and enjoyed the peace that nature provided. Lee also loved telling good and bad jokes. He believed that special occasions were deserving of good company, food, dancing, and music.
As Lee always said, “What’s more fun than people? More people!”
Lee will be missed by his loving wife, Boni; children: Tricia (Greg), Joel (Melissa), Ryan (Leah); grandchildren: Kristen, Jordan, Brandon, Eleanora, Auren; siblings: Sylvia (Larry), Dan (MaryLou), Marianne (Randy); brothers-in-law: Melvin (Judy), Maurice (Leona), Rod (Brenda); sisters-in-laws: Cora (Jerome), Geraldine, Dolores, Luella (Willie); and nieces, nephews, cousins.
