Jul 19, 2022 | 12:37 PM

The Grey Cup is coming to Birch Hills on August 27th!

We are honored to be chosen as a host community as one of six winners in the Richardson Pioneer Grey Cup Community Celebration Tour and have now been tasked with planning a day of celebration!

To help make our day special, Gainer the Gopher, the Roughrider Cheer Squad as well as Roughrider Alumni will be accompanying the Grey Cup to our community, giving us the unique opportunity to provide a variety of events to raise funds for our Birch Hills Golf Course Clubhouse project.

The day will start with a parade at noon down Bellamy Ave., the rest of the day will continue out at the Sports Grounds, a tailgate Barbeque lunch, photo opps with the Grey Cup and Gainer, prize winners announced for yard decorating and coloring contest, cheque presentation, flag football as well as many family games and bouncy castles, dessert and coffee in the tent, $90000.00(in total) Hole-In-One Golf Tournament, Supper, family dance, fireworks and ending with an adult dance.

Watch Facebook (Birch Hills Sk Golf Course) or The Birch Hills Heartbeat for more details.

Six communities will receive a $25,000 grant as the winners of the Richardson Pioneer Rider Nation Community Celebration contest. The Richardson Pioneer Community Celebration is bringing Grey Cup Festival excitement throughout Saskatchewan as the CFL championship heads to Regina in November this year.

In addition to the $25,000 donation from Richardson Pioneer to support local sport, culture, and recreation projects, the winning communities will host a one-day party featuring the Grey Cup trophy, the 620 CKRM Rider Cheer Team, Gainer the Gopher, and Rider alumni.

“We are proud to support the communities where our customers and employees live and work,” said Neil Banbury, Assistant Vice-President at Richardson Pioneer. “I want to congratulate all the winners, and thank all the applicants, for their commitment to their communities. The Community Celebration contest showcases the best aspects of Saskatchewan communities and Richardson Pioneer is proud to support initiatives that make the six winning communities even stronger.”

Over 60 Saskatchewan communities entered the Richardson Pioneer Rider Nation Celebration Contest and finalists were determined by a selection committee.

Congratulations to the winners – Richardson Pioneer is proud to support your community projects!

The Birch Hills Project will assist in constructing a new golf clubhouse, allowing for the community to then host larger tournaments, serve healthy meals, and provide a local venue suitable to promote the sport of golf, group fundraisers, and local events.
