Heavy duty agenda set for P.A. council’s next meeting

Jul 18, 2022 | 8:00 AM

Prince Albert’s council is holding an executive committee meeting on Monday and the agenda is packed.

On the list of things to be discussed is a request to support the creation of a shelter downtown by The Mustard Seed, a faith-based organization that runs shelters in four cities in Alberta and one in British Columbia.

Included in its presentation are letters of support from the YWCA which operates the Stepping Stones Shelter and multiple other agencies.

Another item is the issue of the Elite Firearms signage at a local baseball park near two schools, downtown business tax incentives and a request by the Prince Albert Police to ban stunting in the city, with an eye to reducing issues at the Art Hauser Centre.

Letters of concern from the public have also been received on multiple topics such as speeding on Barton Drive, public transportation in general, poplar tree seed on Woodman Crescent and the environmental impacts of construction in areas such as where the new arenas have started construction.

P.A.’s council is following their summer schedule which means the meeting is set for 2:00 pm on Monday in the council chambers at City Hall.
