U15A softball: what’s next for the Aces

Jul 12, 2022 | 12:00 PM

It was a bittersweet ending to the Prince Albert Aces U15A provincial run.

Despite losing in the finals, the Aces managed a perfect 4-0 round-robin, earning them a bye in the playoffs and securing themselves a berth in the U15 Canadian Championships in Saskatoon at the beginning of August.

With this accomplishment, head coach Scott Reed couldn’t help but express how proud he was of his team for qualifying for this tournament.

“For a lot of them, it’ll be their first time competing in the Canadian Championship,” he said. “With the loss in the finals on Sunday, it was a big accomplishment for our girls and we’re really proud of how they played this weekend to earn the right to play in Nationals.”

P.A. will head to the Bridge City carrying the name of ‘Team Saskatchewan 2,’ and with a name like that, Reed thinks that this will have teams underestimating them.

“Maybe some teams are looking past us with that ‘Sask. 2’ title,” Reed said. “We expect that there will be some teams wishing that they were ready for us by the end of that tournament.”

The U15 Canadian Championships get underway on August 3rd and run until August 7th.
