Edward John Tokarchik

Edward (Ed) Tokarchik of Saskatoon, SK, passed away at the Hospice at Glengarda on July 3, 2022 at the age of 83 years.
Ed was the loving father of Albert (Caroline) Tokarchik of Stettler, AB and Carrie (Donald) Witzel of Saskatoon, SK. He will be missed by his many grandchildren and great grandchildren: Andrew and Sarah Witzel and their children Claire, Monica, and John; Jessica Witzel and Colin Gooding and their children Dot and Casey; Meghan Witzel and Trevor Kolbuc; Finn Aldenberg and Kenzie Hodl; Rachel Tokarchik and Kendle Barker; and Rebecca Tokarchik.
Ed will also be remembered by his wife Wanda Brooks, many nephews, nieces, and very good friends.
Ed was predeceased by his father John, his mother Rose, and his brother John.
Ed was born in Prince Albert, SK and was raised on the family farm near Yellow Creek, SK. His family moved to Yellow Creek prior to his attending high school. He received his high school education there. After a brief stint in the Canadian Army, Ed went on to the College of Commerce at the University of Saskatchewan. Ed had several careers after completing university and then decided to pursue teaching in the late 1960s. Teaching was Ed’s passion and he taught throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan and was principal at several schools during his career. Ed’s final, and most satisfying position, was at the Alternate School for the Prince Albert Separate School system. Ed retired in 1992 and enjoyed a post retirement career of massage therapy and orthotic sales.
Ed enjoyed camping, canoeing, fishing, amateur theatre, gardening, wood working, and was a friend of Bill for almost 45 years. He especially loved wintering in Mesa, AZ where he could eat oranges right off the tree.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice at Glengarda, or the charity of your choice.
A celebration of Ed’s life will be held on Saturday, July 9th at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (211 Avenue O South, Saskatoon, SK). A time of sharing will follow the service. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens at 4:30 pm. Condolences may be left for the family at www.hillcrestmemorial.ca.
