Lillian Rose Thomas was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world surrounded by family on June 30, 2022 at the age of 78.
Lil will be forever cherished by her husband of 58 years, Douglas; children Brent (Yvette), Susan Leach (John) and Pam Coulson (Andrew); grandchildren Matthew Thomas (Jan), Nicholas Thomas, Courtney Leach, Payton Leach, John Coulson, Ashley Coulson; and great-grandchildren Bodhi Thomas and Axel Thomas. She will be missed by many extended family members and friends.
Lil was born in Coronach, SK on August 10, 1943 to Eileen and Glen Kirby. She was raised on the nearby family farm, attended a small country school in her early years and graduated from Coronach High School. Lil completed Teachers College in 1962 and that year was entrusted with her own elementary class in the Davidson School Unit.
She married the love of her life, Doug, in 1963 and they moved to Regina. Soon after Brent and Susan were born. Doug’s career led them to Moose Jaw where they completed their family with the birth of Pamela. During the years that followed Lil raised her family and returned to teaching. In 1974 Doug’s employment took the family to Prince Albert where Lil successfully obtained another teaching position and quickly built a new group of friends and colleagues. Doug and Lil’s final move brought them to Regina in 1991 where Lil continued to fulfill her love of teaching and influence the lives of many students and co-workers, retiring in 2004.
Lil’s pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She dedicated her life to being a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She always took the time to listen, knew when it was the right time to provide guidance and was always there when you needed her. Lil was grateful for any opportunity to spend time with her family and she was happiest when her entire family was together.
The family would like to thank everyone for their well wishes and requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the JDRF Canada, 235 Yorkland Blvd., Suite 600, Toronto, ON M2J 4Y8.
