Inmate at Pine Grove Correctional Centre found deceased

An inmate at Pine Grove was found unresponsive in her cell Friday morning and declared deceased.

The woman was declared dead at about 8:45 this morning and had been treated by EMS workers called by corrections staff.

Prince Albert Police and the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service have been notified and are investigating.

As well, the Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety will be doing an internal investigation.

The provincial ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety said the death is not related to COVID-19.
