Pauline Scherban
1930 ~ 2022
Pauline (Parasceva) Scherban passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 14, 2022. She was 92 years old. She was born in Poland (which later became part of Ukraine) and immigrated to Canada as a child, but never lost her Ukrainian spirit of resilience and self-reliance. She loved to garden and feed those she loved with the products of her garden and pickling jars. She was a long-time member of the Order of the Royal Purple and the Ukrainian Women’s Association in Hudson Bay, and was an avid bowler in Prince Albert.
Pauline is survived by her daughters, Alice and Marie; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Chris (Kayla), and Heather (Kevin); and her great-grandchildren, Van, Dayce, and Tavish. She was predeceased by her husband, John; her son-in-law, Brian; and her sisters, Katherine, Anne and Olga. She never lost hope for news of her beloved, youngest daughter Irene who disappeared August 2, 1975.
The Funeral Service for Pauline will be at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Saint Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church, in Hudson Bay, SK.
