Alleged arsonist breaches bail conditions, back in jail

Jun 20, 2022 | 12:00 PM

Less than a month after being released on bail, the woman accused of setting fire to the Senator Allen Bird Memorial Centre has found herself back behind bars.

Gina Pearl Beatty’s attendance was waived when the matter was briefly discussed Monday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court.

According to court documents, Beatty’s arrest over the weekend and new charge relates to a breach of conditions. It’s in addition to the assault and arson charges she faces from April.

Beatty has been out on bail since May 24, and as part of her release was under a number of strict conditions which cannot be discussed due to a publication ban.

On the morning of April 15, the Prince Albert Fire Department was called to the Senator Allen Bird building, and at least two trucks were observed hosing water on the roof on the south side of the building. Despite all their efforts, the building was a total loss.

Beatty last appeared in court on June 15. The case has now been adjourned to July 20.
