New scholarship available for Manitoba and Saskatchewan students

Jun 7, 2022 | 12:00 PM

MELFORT, Sask. — Meridian Manufacturing and the Thanks for Farming Tour are joining forces to create a new post-secondary scholarship.

The Meridian Agriculture Scholarship is open to students in Grades 11 and 12 in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

The scholarship encourages students to recognize the importance of agriculture and the role it plays within their communities.

Meridian’s Sid Lockhart said students can describe their own personal experiences and views on agriculture through the application process.

“Agriculture is a community in itself, the industry is constantly working together, but many people don’t understand or see how important and involved agriculture is within communities.” Lockhart said. “We’re looking forward to hearing the views on this topic from our next generation.”

Prospective applicants will need to submit a one-minute video describing how agriculture is important in their community.

For its pilot year, two deserving students will be awarded $1,000 each.

Details and information on the scholarship can be found here.

The top finalists for the scholarship will present at the Thanks for Farming Tour events in their perspective provinces in July.
