COVID levels low in P.A. & North Battleford: study

The volume of COVID being found in Prince Albert and North Battleford’s wastewater is low.

That’s according to the University of Saskatchewan which continues to study the virus in each community to determine how prevalent it is.

Levels in P.A. did rise by roughly 50 per cent from the previous week, however, they remain much lower than those recorded in mid-May. The current levels are also the seventh-lowest recorded in the city since the start of the Omicron wave.

In North Battleford, levels are down 53 per cent from last week. This is the first time in three weeks the city has seen a drop. The current levels are the fifth-lowest recorded over the past several months.

Saskatoon, the third city being studied by the U of S, is also seeing low COVID levels. Like P.A., the current volume is the seventh-lowest since the start of the Omicron wave.

As for the Omicron variant, more specifically the Omicron subvariant BA.2, it’s continuing to account for nearly all levels in the three cities.

It currently represents around 90 per cent in North Battleford, 99 per cent in P.A., and 100 per cent in Saskatoon.
