UPDATE: Police warn of dangerous person with gun in Cumberland House

UPDATE: RCMP in Cumberland House Cree Nation have reported at 3:22 p.m. that firearms are being discharged from a residence at 133 Pemmican Portage Avenue in Cumberland House Cree Nation but they are unaware of the individuals involved.

They continue to urge residents to stay inside their homes, and to close and lock all doors and windows.

Residents of Cumberland House Cree Nation are being warned to stay inside and lock all windows and doors by police.

A public safety alert was issued at 1:18 pm today after a suspect was last seen on foot, wearing a black ball cap and jacket in the area of Pemmican Portage Avenue.

He may have a long-barrel gun.

Drivers in the area should watch for anyone asking for a ride and are warned not to pick up hitchhikers.

All tips or emergencies should be reported by calling 911 and the public should not disclose police locations.
