Charges laid following incident at Prince Albert shopping centre parking lot

A pair of charges have been laid by police in connection to an incident Wednesday at Prince Albert’s Cornerstone mall parking lot, that left a 31-year-old man in hospital.

Rajdeepsinh Prakashsinh Bihola, 22, appeared Thursday morning at provincial court, charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon (vehicle).

Police were called to the area around 2 p.m. The victim was initially taken to Prince Albert’s Victoria Hospital with serious injuries but has since been transferred to hospital in Saskatoon.

Through their investigation, police determined that an altercation had taken place. Officers with the Criminal Investigation Division and Forensic Identification Section of the police service continue to investigate.

Anyone who may have been in the area and witnessed this incident, or anyone who has dash cam or cell phone video of this incident, is asked to call city police or Crime Stoppers. Tips can also be submitted online.

Outside the courthouse, friends and family of the accused told paNOW Bihola had come to Canada about four years ago and was working as a driver for Skip the Dishes but was not working at the time of the incident.

“He’s young and he’s really scared,” one friend said.

The family members also stated Bihola did not know the victim, and wanted to make it clear this was an accident and not a hate crime.

Bihola was remanded into custody and is scheduled to make his court appearance Friday morning, allowing time for him to seek legal advice.
