Rohovich forces the Juggernaut to tap out at BFL 72

Apr 29, 2022 | 4:05 PM

Prince Albert’s Ryan Rohovich proved why it’s not over until it’s over.

With 35 seconds left in his fight with Josh “the Juggernaut” Kwiatkowski at Battlefield Fight League 72, Rohovick was well on his way to losing by unanimous decision.

His face alone told the tale of his opponent’s experienced striking ability.

However in a quick turn of events that resembled a snake grabbing its prey, Rohovich stunned the crowd, the judges, and the commentary team, by successfully submitting his opponent with a triangle choke.

Prior to Thursday night’s event at Vancouver’s Harbour Centre, Rohovich told paNOW how much he was looking forward to showing his skills, specifically his jiu-jitsu, that he’s been enhancing and working hard to improve.

With the win, Rohovich improves to 5-4 in his pro MMA career and could potentially be positioning himself for a future shot at the BFL’s featherweight title.

Also on the card was Wesley Bowman, who lost by unanimous decision to Oguzhan Yalcin (30-27, 30-27, 30-26).

Another fighter from Saskatchewan was Regina’s Austin Miller who had challenged Serhiy Sidey for the Bantamweight title but lost by unanimous decision.
