Battlefield Fight League 72 takes place Thursday night in Vancouver, and will mark a return to the cage for two local fighters.

In the Pro-featherweight division, Ryan Rohovich (4-4) fights Josh Kiatkowski (5-4). For Rohovich, this fight marks his first time stepping back into the cage in almost four years, almost entirely due to previous opponents cancelling. Prior to a training session Sunday night Rohovich talked to paNOW.

“I’m feeling awesome…excited,” he said.

Rohovich’s training schedule speaks for itself; six days a week and two to three hours per day. It’s clear now watching him work out, he is very focused on the mission ahead.

“I want to be patient and I want to pick my moments. I want to find my openings and I’m just going to be very strategic and I just want to showcase my skills and how much they’ve come along,” he said.

Rohovich also acknowledged that his opponent has been very vocal in recent weeks on social media, expressing his own confidence about winning.

“It seems like he’s trying to get in to my head but I’m not gonna let him. I’m going to show him why he shouldn’t have been talking once we get face to face,” Rohovich said.

Also on the card is Wesley Bowman (0-2) who will fight Oguzhan Yalcin (1-0). At BFL 70, Yalcin defeated Caleb Ermine in the first round by guillotine choke.

“He’s gonna try to set up a take down, like he might do a little combo to distract me then shoot for a takedown,” Bowman said. “I’m prepared for it.”

Acknowledging his last match was six years ago, Bowman said he is focused right now on mental preparation.

“I prefer to fight a striker because I like to do boxing and I don’t mind getting hit either. With wrestling I have to pick my shots and counter him,” he explained.

BFL72 will take place April 28 at the Harbour Convention Centre in Vancouver, B.C. The main card will be streamed live on UFC FIGHT PASS.
