The cause of a fire early Sunday afternoon in Prince Albert’s West Flat, remains under investigation.

Shortly after 1 p.m., the Prince Albert Fire Department responded to the 1400 block of 12th St. W. for a structure fire.

According to a statement on their Facebook page, when crews arrived there was heavy smoke and flames coming through the roof. Firefighters gained access to the building and performed an aggressive fire attack resulting in a quick knock down.

Both police and fire crews were observed at the scene Monday afternoon. (Nigel Maxwell/ paNOW Staff)

There was extensive damage to the home, as a result of the fire. One person was treated for smoke inhalation.

A man who lives at the house with his daughter, told paNOW he had gone out for coffee, and upon his return saw the fire. He quickly went inside and made sure his dog got out safely. While inside he saw flames racing up the walls from the fridge to the ceiling.

He did not have insurance.
