Saskatchewan beef show returns after two year break

MELFORT, Sask. – After a two-year hiatus the Saskatchewan Beef Expo returned over the weekend.

Roughly 60 young people were able to participate in-person in educational seminars and competition at Saskatoon’s Prairieland Ag Centre over the course of two days.

Keaton Hayes of Biggar had the Grand Champion Heifer while the Reserve Grand Champion Heifer was shown by Lane Steen of Dundurn.

Alex Manson of Birch Hills had the Grand Champion Steer and Kylee Hanson of Weldon had the Reserve Grand Champion Steer.

There was also team grooming and a showmanship competition.

Colt Blacklock of Dundurn placed first in senior showmanship, Lane Steen was first in intermediate showmanship and Raya Beiber of Wolsely was first in junior category.

The winning senior team in the grooming competition included Kolby Haynes and Keaton Haynes. First place in intermediate grooming included Lane Steen, Waylon Blacklock and Avery Bohrson. Ella Rae Malinowski, Heidi Zoerb, and Erica Zoerb made up the best junior grooming team.

4-H Saskatchewan and Flat-Top Cattle Co. offered educational seminars.
