All properties need software update

Mar 28, 2022 | 4:00 PM

According to the City of Prince Albert, all water meters in the city are needing an upgrade so owners or residents are being asked to set up an appointment as soon as possible.

There is no cost to either the city or residents. City staff said that the upgrade will allow for more accurate metre readings.

Since late in 2021, bills have been based on estimates following a disruption to the system.

“Estimates are not ideal, and I thank customers for their patience as we work through the process of these updates,” said Ramona Fauchoux, acting director of Financial Services. “The software update is necessary to get back to accurate readings.”

The disruption also caused the Eye on the Water Mobile app to be unavailable.

Letters regarding the update will be mailed by zone to the impacted properties over the next few weeks, starting today with zone 1

People do not have wait until they get a letter and can call for an appointment at any time.

Metercor will send staff to each property for an appointment that lasts about an hour. In order to complete the upgrade, a small device is attached to the endpoint in the property.

One resident aged 18 or older must be home for the appointment time. Metercor representatives will carry identification.

The technology allows for the water meter to send data back to the city.

Appointments can be booked online at https://book.metercor.com/home/ or by calling 888-290-3070 between 8 am and 4 pm (Mon-Fri).
