Mary A. Palidwar
April 6, 1938 ~ January 14, 2022
Mary Palidwar (nee Ewanchyna) late of 212 31 Street West, Battleford, Saskatchewan passed away January 14, 2022 at the age of 83 years.
She was born April 6, 1938 in Alticane, Sask. The family moved to Meath Park in 1943. Mary attended school at Surrey and Meath Park Elementary and High School. She graduated from Teachers’ College in Saskatoon in 1955 and received her Bachelor of Education Degree in 1981. Mary taught for 30.22 years and retired in 1990.
She married Walter Palidwar in 1957. They worked and resided in the Honeymoon district for 50 years. In 2007, they retired from farming and moved to Prince Albert. Mary had a keen interest in many hobbies such as reading, painting, scrapbooking, embroidery, Easter egg writing, quilting, gardening, and singing.
Mary loved her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, enjoyed every moment with them and was very proud of them.
Mary is survived by three loving daughters: Linda Hodge, Marion Palidwar, and Natalia Nykiforuk (Peter Gibbon) all of Battleford, SK; two wonderful grandchildren: Eric Nykiforuk (Victoria) of Battleford, SK and Erin Nykiforuk (Spencer Wyatt) of Kelowna, BC; three special great-grandchildren: Max Weran, Talia and Walter Nykiforuk, all of Battleford, SK; brother Jerry (Rose) Ewanchyna of Saskatoon, SK; sisters-in-law Karen McKay of New Westminster, BC and Deanna Palidwar of Nipawin, SK; and numerouse nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary is predeceased by her loving husband, Walter; parents Ksenia and Wasyl Ewanchyna; parents-in-law Nelly and Wasyl Palidwar; brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Helen Ewanchyna; brother-in-law John Palidwar; and son-in-law Grant Hodge.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bash, Tracy and all the attending nurses and doctors at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, SK and Dr. Khorona, and all the attending nurses at the Battleford Union Hospital in North Battleford, SK who gave Mom such tender and considerate care in her final days.
Also, we would like to thank the following people for their undying and cherished friendship, caring and helping hearts over the last several years: Marg and John Bodnarchuk, Stella Sloboda, Wasyl and Sally Rybulka, Donna Minduik, Pat Holinaty, Zenia and Peter Kalyn, and anyone else we are not aware of.
Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 4, 2022 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 28 Street West, Prince Albert, SK. Divinie Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 684 3rd Avenue East, Prince Albert, SK with Father Michael Lomaszkiewicz officiating. In lieu of other tributes, donations can be made to the Cancer Society or the Donor’s Choice 325 Manning Road NE #200, Calgary, Alberta, T2E 2P5.
