Province announces record setting new COVID-19 cases, no new deaths

There are 1,412 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, once again the highest daily number of cases reported in the province.

With the new incoming cases, Saskatchewan now has 10,325 active cases. This is the first time the province has exceed 10,000 active cases at one time.

Of the new cases 196 are located in the northern zones of the province; Far North West (27), Far North East (18), North West (53), North Central (62), and North East (36).

Even with these high numbers of new and active cases, there have still been no COVID-related deaths in the province since Jan. 6.

Over two-fifths (43.2 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39.

As of Jan. 14 a total of 131 individuals are hospitalized, including 123 inpatient hospitalizations and eight ICU hospitalizations. Of the 131 patients, 56 (42.7 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

The SHA dashboard includes 131 hospitalizations: 123 residents are inpatient: of those, 59 inpatient hospitalizations are a COVID-19-related illness, 46 are incidental, asymptomatic infections and 18 have not yet been determined. Eight residents are in ICUs: of those, five are for COVID-19-related illnesses, three are for incidental, asymptomatic infections.

No new deaths reported today leaving the total of Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 who have died at 961 for the last week.

NITHA numbers

The Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) reported 32 new cases in NITHA communities on Jan. 13. Of the new cases, 10 (31 per cent) are not vaccinated; nine (28 per cent) was partially vaccinated; and 13 (41 per cent) were fully vaccinated.

There are 147 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 0; Far North West, 43; Far North East, 90; North Central, seven; and North East, seven. There have been 6,950 cases (97 per cent) that have recovered, and there are 0 hospitalizations.

Athabasca Health Authority

The active case count in the Athabasca Health Region is now four as of Jan. 13. No new cases were reported yesterday.
