P.A. community recognized through annual BOB Awards

Dec 17, 2021 | 4:00 PM

Many in Prince Albert are being recognized through the 2022 Best of the Best (BOB) Awards.

Since 2014, paNOW readers have been able to recognize their favourite individuals, organizations, events, and more across P.A. by voting online.

Just under 18,000 nominations were sent in for over 200 categories, with around 106,000 votes cast.

“As usual our BOBs were a huge success due to you the public weighing in and nominating and voting for Prince Alberts Best of the Best,” said Marlene Stene, paNOW online sales manager. “During these unusual times, I am sure, it’s most appreciated by our winners to see that all their hard work has not gone unappreciated.”

Winners from some of the most popular categories this year include:

Best Teacher Elementary: Austin Odnokon

Best Teacher Secondary: Aaron MacDonald

Best Boss: Richard Ahenakew

Best Citizen: Malcolm Jenkins (eight years in a row)

Best Police Officer: Darcy Burns

Best Firefighter: Wade Fehr

Best Paramedic: Ramsay Bellisle

Best Nurse: Ashley Martin

Best Community Event and Cultural Event: Prince Albert Winter Festival

Best Not-for-Profit: KIN Enterprises Inc.

“Congratulations to all our winners and runners-up,” Stene added.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, winners were announced at a gala at the Art Hauser Centre’s Ches Leach lounge while being ushered down a red carpet to their place in the spotlight.

Due to restrictions, there hasn’t been a gala for the past two years, but recipients will be emailed BOB Award certificates they can display in their businesses or show off to friends online.
