HELP BUILD THE HOSPICE

End goal in sight for Rose Garden as big fundraiser begins

Dec 17, 2021 | 1:00 PM

A local non-profit is now giving you the chance to be a part of its new building, literally.

Prince Albert’s Rose Garden Hospice recently started its largest fundraiser to date hoping to raise the final $500,000 by the end of this month.

The organization is selling portions of two-by-six lumber that will be a part of the construction of the future hospice building.

“We’ll send you a certificate thanking you and telling you what room your two-by-six is being used in,” said Marina Mitchell with the Rose Garden Hospice.

The campaign will be running until Dec. 30, with only 300 slabs of wood available.

Speaking on Beach Radio in Prince Albert, Mitchell said she is excited about the fundraiser, adding this project is so important for the community.

“We need it because it’s just another option for end-of-life care for our community, and our surrounding community,” Mitchell said. “It just gives people during those last few days that security and that calming sense and it’s just a great place to be for end of life.”

The hospice will also be given a huge boost of support from local business Econo Lumber.

“When we heard about this project, we thought it was very important, a needed project for this community,” said store owner Curtis Lemieux.

Lemieux said Econo Lumber will match donations for the current fundraiser up to $100,000

For Mitchell, she is hoping they can raise the final amount they need in time for the new year.

“We are close, we’re just under half a million dollars needed left. It’s just wonderful to have Econo and the Lemieux family be a part of this to reach our end goal is just wonderful.”

You can purchase your two-by-six for the Rose Garden Hospice at Econo Lumber or online through the Rose Garden website or at their office inside Gateway Mall.
