Mintos love winning games 6-1, do it again against Blazers

Dec 2, 2021 | 10:16 AM

The Prince Albert Mintos picked up their second straight 6-1 victory on Wednesday at the Art Hauser Centre.

They beat the Saskatoon Blazers, who have the second-best winning percentage at the .750, by that 6-1 score. Last Sunday, the Mintos also beat the Moose Jaw Warriors by the same score.

Rookie Ashton Tait and second-year forward Zach Bansley both had a pair of goals in Wednesday’s contest. Tait already has 14 goals in 17 games for the Mintos. Bansley, who started the year with an injury, has scored seven goals in nine games played.

Defenceman Nate Misskey scored on the power play, while the pesky Carter Hanson also scored for the Mintos. Mintos goaltender Jayden Kraus made 33 saves on 34 shots for the Mintos, with Josh Knittig being the only Blazer to beat him.

The Mintos improved to 12-7-1 on the season.

They will head on the road this weekend for a couple of games in the southern part of the province, taking on the Notre Dame Hounds in Wilcox on Saturday, and the Moose Jaw Warriors on Sunday.
