Prince Albert Santa Claus Parade cancelled again

Nov 24, 2021 | 5:15 PM

For the second year in a row, the Prince Albert Santa Claus Parade will not be happening this holiday season.

Last year the parade was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, however, the event organized by the Prince Albert Downtown Business Improvement District was cancelled for a different reason.

The parade was originally scheduled to go on Saturday.

“Our executive director resigned and so nobody’s been hired to fill the position,” said Stacy Coburn, chairperson for the Downtown Business Improvement District. “We’ve reached out to a few different people and different organizations for them to host the parade and nobody had time in their schedules in that short of notice to get the parade organized this year.”

Despite it being listed on its website as an upcoming event, she explained it is very disappointing they have had to cancel it once again.

“I didn’t realize it was listed anywhere so we apologize for the confusion, and we have a couple of good applicants for the position so hopefully it’ll all be a go for next year,” Coburn explained.

Although Santa will not be parading through Prince Albert this year, he will be at Gateway Mall on Saturday for photos from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
