Conservation Officers Working With First Nations

Nov 23, 2021 | 1:17 PM

Last month, our Melfort conservation officers met with Herbert Burns of the James Smith Cree Nation to donate some recovered wild game.

Elders at the James Smith, Peter Chapman and Chakastaypasin bands will receive the meat after it’s been processed.

Our COs work hard to ensure that wild game seized during enforcement activities is put to good use.

In this case, the meat came from two elk that were taken from a hunter who was on private land without permission, and from a moose that had been recently left in a field.
