The Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Radiothon has raised more than $888,000 for lifesaving equipment and critical programming.

The two-day radiothon, presented by CIBC Wood Gundy, has wrapped up after broadcasting over 25 radio stations across the province for a grand total of $888,961.

“A heart-felt thank you to Saskatchewan, for taking the time to listen and respond to our children and their families,” said Brynn Boback-Lane, President and CEO of Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation. “Every contribution that was made will support sick babies and children throughout the province, giving them added hope in their health care journey. Our success can only be measured by those who help us, help the kids. We also extend genuine appreciation to our radio partners who brought to light the experiences of Saskatchewan children and their families in need of support.”

The money raised will be used to improve epilepsy services, enhance provincial pediatric trauma care and to increase capacity in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the hospital.

The Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation is extending their gratitude to matching sponsors Gord and Barb Broda from Prince Albert, as well as presenting sponsor CIBC Wood Gundy and many others who have donated the last 48 hours.

Senior program director of the Pattison Media Saskatchewan division Danny Kid said the grand total is truly unreal.

“I can only feel a lot of beaming pride and adulation and awe of our team, the foundation and most importantly the donors,” he said. “This radiothon was province wide for our provincial children’s hospital and the number of people coming together to make it all happen is truly incredible and awe inspiring and for a radio guy don’t have a lot of words right now I’m just so happy.”

They would also like to thank all of the event sponsors CP, SaskTel, Save-onFoods, Saskatchewan Blue Cross, Affinity Credit Union, Federated Co-operatives Limited, Crescent Point, Viterra, GMR Electric, Jump.ca, Information Services Corporation, Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation, Chicken Farmers of Saskatchewan, Enbridge, Schaan Healthcare, Mine Supply Co, FFUN Group, Geransky Bros. Construction, CommAlert, as well as all of our broadcasting media partners.

More than $14.8 million has been raised for Saskatchewan kids and moms in hospital since the very first radiothon 20 years ago.

“On behalf of CIBC Wood Gundy, I would like to thank the people of Saskatchewan for their continued generosity in supporting the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Radiothon,” said Todd Dixon, Branch Manager, CIBC Wood Gundy Regina Branch. “Your donations will allow families from across this province access to timely and specialized care. We at CIBC Wood Gundy believe that the health and well-being of Saskatchewan children is one of the most important causes that we can make a contribution toward. Thank you again for your commitment to the same cause.”
