Fall Break Out Swim Meet

Eleven swimmers from the Prince Albert Sharks Swim Club traveled to Regina to participate in the Fall Break Out Swim Meet Oct. 15-17.

“This is the first Swim meet we participated in since March 2020 due to the pandemic,” said head coach Dr. Hazem Hussein. “We brought back home very strong achievements.”

Ali Diehl achieved a Can-Am time standard and also met the time standard for national and provincial para-swimming time standard for the first time ever. Another swimmer earned an AA provincial qualifying time in the 1500-metre freestyle event.

Here are highlights from the swim meet:

Ali Diehl: Ali qualified for the Can-Am para-swimming championships in North Carolina. She also achieved national and provincial time standards for the first time and had personal best times in all her swims.

Soren Hansen: Soren placed first in the 200-metre backstroke and third in the following events: 200-metre backstroke, 50-metre backstroke, 100-metre backstroke, 50-metre freestyle and 200-metre freestyle. He had A times in all of his events and missed an AA time by 0.58 seconds in the 50-metre freestyle.

Dani Boisson: Dani was third in the 200-metre breaststroke, fourth in the 200-metre backstroke and earned an A time standard.

Patience Soderberg-Tilden: Patience swam personal best times in all her swims.

Clara Gelhorn: Clara came first in the 800-metre freestyle, third in 400-metre freestyle and fourth in 200-metre individual medley. She was one second away from an AA time in the 800-metre freestyle.

Ava Helgason: Ava placed fifth in the 100-metre backstroke. She had A times and personal bests in all her swims.

Isla Hansen: Isla placed seventh in the 200-metre backstroke and swam personal best times in all her races.

Jenna Pshebnicki: Jenna placed second in the 200-metre butterfly, eighth in the 100- metre butterfly and had personal best times in all her races.

Sophie MacDonald: Sophie swam personal best times in all her races.

Avery MacDonald: Avery swam personal best times in all her races.

“All of the swimmers have worked hard in training in this training season,” Hussein said. “The results they have achieved are down to their dedication and hard work. We are pleased with our swimmers results and performance.”

The Sharks offer a variety of programs to meet kid’s potentials and ambitions, not only on the competitive level but also on a non-competitive level. The swim club accepts registrations year round.
