The Raiders can finally put a W on their schedule after a dominant game Wednesday night in Moose Jaw.

Fresh off his return from the Montreal Canadiens, Kaiden Ghule had two assists while Ozzy Wiesblatt had a goal and an assist in a 3-2 win over the Warriors. Niall Crocker and Reece Vitelli also scored for the Raiders.

Wiesblatt scored the game’s first goal off a tip from Ghule’s shot less than five minutes into the second period. The team followed that up on the power play two minutes later when Vitelli’s shot beat Warriors goalie Carl Tetachuk.

Crocker would make it three 3-0 in the period before the Warriors tried to mount a comeback. They scored their first goal with less than five minutes left and made it 3-2 a couple of minutes later. The Raiders were shorthanded after newly acquired forward Sloan Stanick was sent off for a five-minute penalty and a game misconduct for goaltender interference.

Despite the last-minute push by the Warriors, the Raiders held on for the victory, snapping their four-game losing streak to start the season.

Carter Seryhenko stopped 20 of 22 shots to get his first win of the 2021/22 season.

The two teams will square off again at the Art Hauser Centre in Prince Albert on Friday night. Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m. with pregame to start at 6:30 p.m. on 900 CKBI.
