P.A. Northern Bears lose on the road twice to begin season

The Prince Albert Northern Bears started off their Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League regular season this weekend but it did not go as hoped, losing twice to the Regina Rebels on the road.

On opening night on Saturday, the Bears lost 6-2 where they scored twice in the third period. Forward Julia Cey and defenceman Kelsey Ledoux were the goal scorers for Prince Albert.

Goaltender Brooke Archer faced many shots on goal making 36 saves on the night.

Rebels forward Alexis Petford scored a hattrick and forward Allee Gerrard scored twice to help lift Regina to victory. Defenceman Jada Johns also scored for Regina.

On Sunday afternoon the Bears were looking for a bounce-back win but struggled to score in the first two periods once again to lose 4-1 on the road. Forward Erin Kirkland was the lone goal scorer for Prince Albert.

Paige Fischer got the start in net for the Bears making 32 saves.

Mya Girard, Bailey McMaster, Megan Hayhurst, and Brooklyn Nimegeers all scored for Regina.

Next up for the Bears is a trip to the Battlefords to take on the Sharks Thursday evening at 7:45 p.m.
