Ahtahkakoop RCMP arrest man after falsely reporting fatal collision

The Ahtahkakoop RCMP have arrested and charged a 21-year-old man from Mistawasis First Nation after falsely reporting a a fatal collision.
According to a media release, on Saturday at 1 a.m. the RCMP received a report from a caller who said there was a serious two vehicle collision on the Mistawasis First Nation. He told police there were two deceased people and multiple casualties.
After emergency responders did an extensive search involving multiple RCMP detachments, EMS, STARS and local residents to locate the scene and help those involved, it was determined by police they could be dealing with a false report and they began investigating.
Police have charged as a result of the investigation 21-year-old Tyler Sanderson with public mischief and obstructing a police officer.
