COVID IN SCHOOLS

SHA reports two new COVID cases at PACSD schools

More positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported at Catholic schools in Prince Albert.

In the latest release from the Prince Albert Catholic School Division (PACSD) Wednesday, two new cases were identified at St. Francis School and St. Michael School.

The division said that these cases were likely not acquired at the schools due to the recent start of classes.

This comes on the same day the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) reported 102 of the 475 new cases Wednesday were in children under the age of 12 who are not eligible for the vaccine.

The PACSD said that with the rise in case rates and state of vaccination rates in the province, school families are encouraged to consider all the layers of protection.

“Students under 12 are not eligible for vaccination, therefore our community needs to do what it can to protect our youth,” the PACSD said in a release. “Layers of protection are effective.”

The division said in-person classes will continue while maintaining current safety protocols.

So far this week, the SHA has reported 15 cases across multiple schools in the PACSD.
