Active cases reach 1,753 across province, including 832 in northern zones

The provincial government reported another 258 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 124 of which are in the Northern Saskatchewan zones.

This brings the total to 53,262 reported cases; 1,753 cases considered active and 50,913 cases considered recovered.

The new cases are located in the Far North West (nine), Far North Central (seven), Far North East (29), North West (23), North Central (36), and North East (18).

About two-fifths (40.3 per cent) of new cases are in the 20 to 39 years age category

About one in eight (12.4 per cent) new cases was fully vaccinated

Two new deaths were also reported today. This brings the provincial total to 596 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 who have died and a case fatality rate of 1.1 per cent.

NITHA Data

There are 266 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 22; Far North West, 76; Far North East, 130; North Central, 37; and North East, one.

There are 129 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; four, Far North West, 33; and Far North East, 66; North Central, 25; and North East, one. There have been 4327 cases (96 per cent) that have recovered, and nine people are being hospitalized.

Athabasca Health Authority

The Athabasca Health Authority has reported another three new cases of COVID-19 and two recoveries. This means the active case count for Aug. 26 is as 13 in the region; 10 in Black Lake and three in Stony Rapids.
