With funky red and white socks, putting contests, and fun music, it didn’t take long for the Red Jacket Classic charity golf tournament to make an impact in Prince Albert.
Put on by Ronald McDonald House Charities Saskatchewan (RMHS), it was the tournament’s first-ever visit to Prince Albert. Around 80 golfers packed the Cooke Municipal Golf Course to raise some money to help support families with children who need extensive medical treatment.
“We’re super excited. It’s the first time for the event in Prince Albert. It’s been great. Everyone’s been super excited to get back on the golf course and raise some funds,” said Ashlyn Yablonski, RMHS fundraising and communications coordinator. “We’re just grateful for the community of Prince Albert for their support and coming out continuing to care for families just as we do.
Thursday’s tournament marked the third out of four planned Red Jacket Classics this golf season. The previous two ran in Saskatoon, while the final event will be in Regina this upcoming Monday. Heading into Thursday, around $75,000 has already been raised for RMHS in the province.
