Pattison Media introduces new voice of the Prince Albert Raiders
Bringing the game of hockey to life over the radio takes skill behind the mic. Most announcers simply call the action, but Rob Mahon makes you feel as though you are part of the action.
Pattison Media and the Prince Albert Raiders are excited to introduce Mahon as the new voice of the WHL champion team in hockey town north.
“I’m thrilled to be joining an organization as professional and welcoming as Pattison Media. Everyone at the radio station and those I have met so far at the hockey club have been all class since this process began and made a difficult choice to leave Estevan that much easier. I also can’t wait to get on the mic for a franchise as storied and beloved in the community as the Prince Albert Raiders,” said Mahon. “I’m already counting down the days until puck drop when the reigning WHL champions can take to the ice in front of a packed house again.”
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Mahon graduated from the Creative Communications program at Red River College with a major in journalism. For the last four seasons, he has been the voice of the SJHL’s Estevan Bruins. His highlights there include the SJHL Finals in 2018, a game seven overtime winning call against the Humboldt Broncos in 2019, and his call of the viral Jayden Davis between-the-legs goal later that same year. Prior to his time in Estevan, Mahon executed play-by-play for the Manitoba Bison men’s hockey team, while also calling games in the MJHL (Junior A), MMJHL (Junior B) and the medal round of the western Canadian Junior B championship, the Keystone Cup.
