Elk Ridge ownership group submits plan for new RV park

The owners of Elk Ridge Resort (Routes2SK) have submitted a plan to build a new RV park, and with it hopefully attract future property owners to the area.

The re-zoning for the property was approved during this week’s District of Lakeland council meeting, and following a community consultation, council members will vote on the proposal at their August meeting. Ryan Danberg, one of the managing partners at Elk Ridge, explained, since taking over last fall, they have been reviewing different facets of their business.

“Hearing some of the numbers out of Prince Albert National Park, and the shortage of RV lots, we decided to build a seasonal RV park,” he said.

Pending approval, the RV park will be able to accomodate 100 sites, and will be located in the wooded area near the church, south of the resort.

“I don’t think we’ve even been to market yet and I’ve probably got a list of over 60 people that have expressed interest in it,” Danberg said.

The Hamlet of Elk Ridge recently received approval by the province to become a Resort Village next year, providing they can meet a number of conditions first. Danberg is hopeful people who come to visit the resort and check out all of its amenities may one day want to buy property.

“So it’s kind of a feeder for a healthy, vibrant community and that’s why we recognize that this is the right thing to do and so we are proceeding forward,” he said.

The District of Lakeland’s next council meeting is Aug. 9. People who live within 75 metres of the proposed development will be receiving letters regarding how they show their support or bring forward concerns.
