Red Deer’s Westerner Park unveils the ‘Peavey Mart Centrium’

The home of the Red Deer Rebels and many other significant events on Westerner Park’s calendar is now the Peavey Mart Centrium.

Westerner Park unveiled the new naming rights on Monday.

The deal is for five years with financial terms undisclosed. Peavey Industries will also serve as the Westerner’s “official agricultural supply partner.”

“This partnership is a natural fit and one that will continue the arena’s legacy of bringing the community together,” says Mike Olesen, Westerner Park CEO. “With the addition of a naming partner on our iconic central Alberta arena, we are ready to welcome our guests back for Red Deer Rebels hockey, Agri-Trade Equipment Expo, Canadian Finals Rodeo, and the 2022 World Junior Hockey Championships.”

Olesen also hinted that coming as early as 2022, Westerner Park will add a major agricultural show component to Westerner Days, which would almost double the size of that event.

An announcement likely would’ve been made, he noted, during Westerner Days this year, but that was cancelled late last month.

Doug Anderson, President and CEO of Peavey Industries, says acquiring naming rights of the Centrium aligns well with the company’s vision and current strategic position.

“Peavey Industries’ head office has been located here for decades, making Peavey Mart truly ‘Red Deer’ at its very core,” he says. “We are thrilled to partner with Westerner Park and further our local connection while showcasing the overarching dedication we have for a city we are also very proud to call our hometown.”

The Peavey Mart Centrium was constructed in 1991, one year before the Red Deer Rebels entered the Western Hockey League.

It had been without naming rights since 2019 when the previous contract with Enmax expired.
