Police investigate shooting incident at Kinsmen Park

A 25-year-old man is in hospital with a gunshot wound to his shoulder following an incident early Tuesday morning at Prince Albert’s Kinsmen Park.

According to police, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 100 Block of 22nd St. W. for a report that a man had been shot. The victim was transported to Victoria hospital by Parkland Ambulance and has since been transferred to hospital in Saskatoon.

The actual shooting incident is believed to have occurred around 12:15 a.m. near the spray park area as the man was walking home from a residence in the 200 Block of 26th St. E.

A source close to the incident told paNOW the man was returning home after babysitting. He managed to call his mother, who rushed to his rescue.

The mother has confirmed her son is in stable condition, and said he did not know the two men who were following him in the park.

Police are asking residents who live in these areas to check their surveillance cameras for any suspicious activity between the hours of 9 p.m. Monday, and 1 a.m. on Tuesday.
