Inductees to the Prince Albert Arts Hall of Fame were officially announced this week.

As producer of Voices of the North, music has always been Sheryl’s passion and connects her to Northern Saskatchewan.

When one of Sheryl’s friends became ill, (Bernice Sayese, one of the original inductees) she reminded Sheryl more work needs to be done to reach northern youth. As a result of these words, Northern Spirits was developed and will be celebrating its 10th anniversary in the spring.

She has sat on many boards, commissions, and committees including the Juno Aboriginal Red Carpet Event, P.A. Arts Board, and SaskCulture and Creative Kids.

Sheryl was inducted into the Prince Albert Women’s Hall of Fame and was named the 2016 Prince Albert Citizen of the Year.

“I’m very honored. Prince Albert is my home and to be placed into the Hall of Fame for something that I absolutely love doing is very humbling,” Kimbley told paNOW.

Her future plans include looking at a way to bring an urban program to Northern Spirits to reach more youth that way. She would also like to stay close and connected to the many artists across Saskatchewan and would like to see them back on the stage again sometime soon.

Andree lived in Prince Albert from 1964 until her passing in 2019.

Being from Europe, her introduction to art in Saskatchewan and the beginning of her practice on the prairies came in 1974 when she visited the Mendel Art Gallery in Saskatoon.

She was a major part in planting the seeds of a vibrant artistic community and nurtured its ongoing activity.

Cara Stelmaschuk, the Arts Board Vice-Chairperson says Andree did so much for the arts community and is very deserving of the recognition.

“We’ve seen some examples of her artwork too, it’s gorgeous work. Her story is really interesting too” Stelmaschuk added.

The Prince Albert Arts Hall of Fame Gala will take place Feb. 5th, 2022. Tickets will be on sale this fall. The board will also be inducting the 2020 inductee: The Barveenok Dance Group.

The Prince Albert Arts Hall of Fame was introduced in 2014. Information about previous inductees can be found on www.princealbertartshalloffame.com.
