P.A. police officer faces criminal charge

Jun 24, 2021 | 12:00 PM

An experienced Prince Albert police officer has served a 30-day suspension and been put on administrative duty after being charged with a criminal offence.

Constable Darcy Bear— a 16-year veteran— is accused of being unlawfully in a residence following an investigation into an incident on April 16.

He was off duty at the time.

In a media release Thursday, the Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) said it immediately initiated an investigation following the incident and notified the Public Complaints Commission (PCC).

The investigative file was reviewed by senior Crown officials and a charge has been recommended, PAPS said.

As the matter is before the courts, PAPS is offering no further comment at this time.

They did not say what the April 16 investigation was about, nor why Cst. Bear would have been in the residence.
